Putin: Russian economy recovers from pandemic in mid-2021

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- The Russian economy recovered from the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic in the middle of 2021 as a result of work of the business community, President Vladimir Putin told the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on Friday.

“Our economy recovered from the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic already in the middle of this year, it reached the pre-crisis level, and even employment has returned to the figures of 2019. Such a quick recovery of economic dynamics is an observable result of work of the entire business community,” he said.

After the quick recovery, the Russian economy needs a rapid and high-quality growth, the country has to transform its economic life, and the authorities will look for solutions together with the business. The government will continue to support the investment activity and private initiatives, Putin said.

It would be wrong to dispense and “eat through” the cash flow that the leading Russian companies receive as it would reduce competitiveness of the local goods on the international markets. The authorities and the business should look into the future in a strategic way, he said.

He also asked the government to work out the law on the use of vaccination certificates in public places together with the business and the public. The law should be clear and understandable, he said.
